The American Eagle gold bullion coin is a product of the United States Mint and is considered one of the most popular gold coins in the world. First minted in 1986, the Gold American Eagle is favored by gold investors for its global ubiquity and its nature as a highly liquid asset in the market. The obverse of the American Gold Eagle is modeled after the famous Augustus Saint-Gaudens design, while the reverse features a well-suited display of American bald eagles. This Uncirculated American Gold Eagle contains an actual gold weight (AGW) of exactly 1 troy ounce. The composition consists of a gold fineness of .917 (22K) with a blend of copper and silver alloys, and it has a total weight of 1.09 troy ounces. The benefit of investing in an American Gold Eagle is the durability and higher resistance to damage and scratches than gold coins with 24k fineness. All 1 oz Gold Eagle coins are packaged in protective plastic flips. Orders of 20 oz or more are packaged in the original US Mint government tubes. Orders can include any combination of Type 1 and Type 2 AGEs.
